Violet Evergarden Movie To Be Released in 2020, Trailer Reveals New Details

When it was first streamed on Netflix in 2018, Violet Evergarden got very popular, and fans were glad to learn that a theatrical movie will soon follow. While we got a glimpse at the movie poster at the beginning of this year, the trailer that was just released today adds more details about the story, also including the release date!

Violet Evergarden Movie Release Date Revealed

Kyoto Animation has just revealed a new trailer for the Violet Evergarden Movie, announcing the release of the movie in Japanese cinemas on 10 January 2020.

The trailer below also came with some information about the cast, staff and a short tease at what fans should expect from the movie.

There will also be a new anime – Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jidō Shuki Ningyō (Violet Evergarden Side-Story: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll), which comes with a different story. Haruka Fujita, the series director for the television series will return to direct it.

The new film will be released in January, and it will reportedly release worldwide during the “same time period.” The staff and cast were also announced, and we see Taichi Ishidate again returning to direct ot, as well as scriptwriter character designer – Reiko Yoshida, chief animation director – Akiko Takase, and composer – Evan Call.

When Violet Evergarden Finds a Letter…

The Violet Evergarden Movie plot will focus on the years after the war ended, when the world was peaceful:

Her name is Violet Evergarden and she works with letters. It has been years since the war has ended and left people with very, very deep wounds. The world returns to a more peaceful state gradually and new technology is being developed and guides people into the future. Violet Evergarden keeps thinking of the person who means the most to her while she tries her best to live a life in this world without him. One day, she finds a letter…”

The cast includes Yui Ishikawa in the role of Violet Evergarden and Gilbert Bougainvillea in the role of  Daisuke Namikawa.
