The latest Total War title is close to the launch date, and Creative Assembly’s James High announced new details about what will come after the game is launched on May 23. Here’s everything you should know about Total War: Three Kingdoms’ future content.
Total War: Three Kingdoms – What’s Next?
Creative Assembly has worked on the new Total War title for nearly five years, and according to the recent blog post from James High, it is now the most pre-ordered Total War game ever.
What will happen after the game is released? He explains that the DLCs for TW3K will be different and that they are going to be “based both on the exciting opportunities the Romance of the Three Kingdoms source material offers us and the preference we know players have for larger DLCs which adds considerable new replay.”
The DLCs are called Chapter Packs and will create a new start position to reflect the events from Romance. Each DLC will add “new and familiar characters, features and objectives each time, that exemplify that chapter and the thrilling stories it tells.”
As for the size of the new content, expect to see Chapter Packs have a size somewhere between a Culture Pack and a Campaign Pack:
“There will be a serious clutch of new playable factions and a raft of new mechanics to get to grips with in each, while you’ll be playing across all of China.”
Creative Assembly also plans to release the Assembly Kit for Three Kingdoms after the launch, to allow better modding with updated tools. Expect to see it released a little while after the launch so that it won’t cause bugs right from the start, added James
If you have already pre-purchased Total War: Three Kingdoms, you can pre-load it and start downloading game files. The game will be unlocked at launch – which is on May 23, at 8 am BST.
