The camera subject is extremely discussed on the internet and speaking of that, Jason Snell of MacWorld thinks that Google Pixel cameras could not be as good as Apple’s 2019 iPhone, specifically the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. How could the company achieve this?
Triple Rear Camera Setup
The Google Pixel 3 XL and Google Pixel 3 that are available on the market right now come with a combo of front cameras (8MP + 8MP) while the rear camera is 12.2MP. Rumors about the iPhone XI also known as the iPhone 11 suggest that its front camera will be 10MP while on the rear it will have a trio of cameras (10MP + 14MP + ??). The third camera is speculated to be a 3D one.
The Software
The software of the iPhone XI might also be better than Pixel phones according to Snell, that being the second aspect.
The reason why Pixel phones get amazingly clear photos in difficult lighting situations is that Google uses Night Sight. On the other hand, Apple has Smart HDR which improves the dynamic range of images even though it has no user interface. In 2019, Apple could perhaps upgrade the photography software of the next iPhone.
But What About The Google Pixel 4 Cameras?
There was a Google mobile patent spotted not too much time ago, and if we consider that it is indeed the Pixel 4, then it looks like it will feature only one rear camera.
Regarding the front camera, there was nothing mentioned about it. However, KnowYourMobile suggests that no clue of a “hole punch” design in the screen and neither for a slide-out camera.
However, that is a little harder to believe as we live in a world full of selfie-takers.
