Fans of Game of Thrones can probably come to terms with the ending after they have played some games featuring their favorite characters. Well, even if you think that the ending did not do justice to the series and you now miss John Snow, there is some great news for those that own a VR headset.
HTC’s Viveport Infinity subscription platform has a new exclusive VR game called Beyond The Wall, which has players join the Night’s Watch and, as Engadget describes it, your mission is to “defend The Wall against an army of the dead.”
Will the battle finish like in the TV series? There is only one way to know…
After a partnership between HBO and Framestore, Beyond The Wall has players battle against Wights, undead polar bears and other enemies, and the best thing is that you get a flaming sword!
How Can You Play Beyond The Wall?
To play the VR game, you will need to have a compatible VR headset – HTC Vive, Oculus Rift or Windows Mixed Reality headsets (the latter is getting support starting with June 5).
However, to play the game you will need to pay the HTC Viveport Infinity subscription, which will allow access to all the 600 apps and games in its library, like Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, and Gun Club. This is why the Infinity subscription is also called ‘Netflix for VR.’ The subscription also offers “exclusive membership benefits such as the revamped Viveport Video application.”
The subscription package is $12.99/month (or $99/year), but if you do not have a VR headset, it will also cost you $499 more for the standard HTC Vive headset, which is night quite cheap for gaming.
Nonetheless, if you really want to see how life is in the Night’s Watch and look for some familiar faces, it could be all worth it.
